Men’s soccer claws past DePauw Tigers

DANVILLE, Ky. – The good times keep coming for Centre men's soccer as a 2-1 result over DePauw University moved the team to seven games unbeaten and three straight-wins.

The Colonels record moved to 6-0-1 on Saturday while the Tiger season tally fell to 3-2-1.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- DePauw took an early lead with a goal strike in the 10th minute. That lead held the rest of the first half and over seven minutes into the second frame.
- Zeke Saviello beat a defender on the left side of the box in the 52nd minute and kicked in a high goal, over a leaping keeper, to even the score at 1-1.
- The match's final goal came just a little over two minutes after Centre's first tally. With the Colonels running down the field, Alec McAlister sent a long ball to Luke Morgan who took an aggressive run into the box and scored the game-winning goal.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Luke Morgan's goal was his second in as many games. Sunday's tally tied his season-high in goals that he set in 2022.
- The goal for Zeke Saviello was the second of his Centre career. Alec McAlister's assist on that goal was his fourth helper of the season, which is a career-best mark for season assists.
- Brendan Egan had five saves in 90 minutes which tied for the second-most stops in a match this season.
- The Colonels' record at this point in the season is the best since 2018. The team went through the first seven games and came out with the same 6-0-1 record. That squad won the Southern Athletic Association Tournament and made the NCAA Tournament.
