Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | Noah Hughes, Associate Athletic Director for Communications and External Relations

Five-straight wins for women’s soccer

DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre women's soccer took the Fightin' Engineers of Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology to school in a 3-0 drubbing on Sunday afternoon.

The Colonels have been flawless in the past five matches and moved to 5-1-1. The Fightin' Engineers remained winless at 0-5.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Transfer Mary Martin Hampton opened her Centre account in the match's 22nd minute. The sophomore took control of the ball in the goal area off a deflection from a Rose-Hulman player and sent it into the left corner of the net.
- Over 10 minutes later, in the 32nd minute, the Colonels struck again. Avery Buser sent a beautiful pass back to Lydia Bowling who kicked it in the right side of the goal to make the score 2-0.
- The final score of the game, just like the first, was scored by a transfer into Centre. Olivia Bretz notched her shot in the 52nd minute. A Fightin' Engineer kicked a ball out of the box and it landed at Bretz's feet. The sophomore then ran to the top of the box and notched the final goal of the 3-0 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre saw a season high three goals and season second-best marks in shots (18) and shots on goal (8).
- The Colonel defense held Rose-Hulman to the fewest shots of any opponent so far this season (5) and the second fewest shots on goal (2). The Fighting Engineers only took one corner kick.
- Posession was another key factor for the Gold & White. Centre held the ball for 58 percent of the match.
- The home team had a 18-5 lead in the shots margin and an 8-2 gap in shots on goal.
- Sunday marked the third-straight shutout for the Colonels. The last time Centre rattled off that impressive streak was in September of 2022.
- Two keepers split time in the net for the Colonels. Anna Thomas got the start and played the full first half before Grace Dutcher came in for the final 45 minutes.
