Field hockey falls to Sewanee

DANVILLE, Ky.- The Gold & White took to South Turf to host Sewanee in a Sunday afternoon, non-conference match up. Although a close opening half, the Colonels ultimately fell by a score of 3-1.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS  
- The game opened at a slower pace, the first shot not being registered until nine minutes in. With only one-shot attempt in the opening frame, the score remained tied at 0-0. 
- The Tigers swiftly initiated the second period, tallying the first goal off a penalty corner two minutes in. The Colonels rattled off a pair of shots in an attempt to answer but were unable to find the back of cage. Heading into the halftime break, Sewanee led 1-0.
- The Tigers doubled their score early in the third period, adding an additional goal in the fourth to lead by three. The Colonels later tallied their first point when Ashley Hamilton streaked one in solo from the top of the circle. When the clock ran out, the score read Sewanee three, Centre zero.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE  
- Hamilton fronted the Colonels in goals with one.
- Claire Martin led Centre in shots taken with three. 
- Carlie McKenry fronted the game in saves with three. 
- The Colonels favored in corners, having seven to the opposing three.

UP NEXT
The Gold & White will travel to Virginia for their next four contests. They'll face Christopher Newport on Saturday, Oct. 5th before taking on their first conference opponent, Mary Washington, on Oct. 6th.
