Women’s soccer back-to-back winners over Scots

LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN, Ga. - Another day, another win of 2-1 over a team nicknamed the Scots. Centre women's soccer took down the hosts of the Covenant College Tournament on Saturday evening.

The Colonels are 2-1-1 while the Scots took their first loss of the season and now sit at 3-1-0.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre lit up the scoreboard first in the match. Grace Plummer dished a ball from the right side of the penalty area to Zara McCarthy in the 38th minute. The freshman took a shot around 18 yards that flew into the left side of the net.
- The Colonels came out hot in the second half and scored again less than 10 minutes into the frame. A free kick taken by Olivia Bretz in the 54th minute was passed from the left side of the field to Avery Buser who kicked goal in from right outside the middle of the goal area.
- Covenant kept things interesting as they pulled within one in the 72nd minute. A penalty kick goal from the Scots made it 2-1 but Centre held on for the 2-1 win.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- For the second-consecutive game both goals were the first of the season for the scorers. Freshmen Zara McCarthy and Avery Buser opened their Colonel accounts on Saturday.
- Both assists were also the first of the player's Colonel careers. Freshman Grace Plummer and transfer sophomore Olivia Bretz contributed the helpers.
- The shots portion of the box score again tilted heavily towards Centre. The Colonels took 22 shots to the Scots' eight attempts. Shots on goal were also 11-3 in favor of Centre.
