Colonels knock off no. 23 Scots for fifth straight win

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Centre volleyball team extended their winning streak to five as they picked up their third ranked victory of the season, defeating the no. 23 Covenant Scots in the final game of the Transylvania Classic.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- Centre used an 8-1 run midway through the opening set to take a lead that they would not relinquish. The Scots cut the lead to two points on two separate occasions, but that was as close as they got as Emily Goddin put home the clinching kill on a 25-20 victory.
- In the second set, neither team led by more than two points until the Colonels gradually built a cushion as the set approached the end. Holding onto a 20-19 lead, Centre scored five out of the last six points to get another 25-20 win, with Syd Bietz locking it down for the final kill.
- The third set played out in a similar fashion as the first two, with Centre utilizing a 6-1 midway through to create some distance after a close beginning to the set. Centre forced a match point at 24-19 on a Hollye Tate kill, but the Scots were hard to put away, scoring the next three to stay alive. Following a Centre timeout, Ally Knueven secured the 25-22 victory with the final kill of the match.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Knueven led a balanced Centre scoring effort with 11 kills, followed by Bietz and Goddin with nine each.
