Men’s soccer wins Bob Allen Nissan Classic

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre men's soccer kept its unbeaten streak alive after a hard-fought match against Wilmington, that closed out the 35th annual Bob Allen Nissan Classic, ended in a 1-1 draw.  

The Colonels end the weekend holders of a 3-0-1 record. The Quakers head back to Ohio with a 3-0-2 tally. Centre took home the title for the event with Wilmington placing second.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS   
- Both goals in the contest came in the second half. Wilmington struck first with a score coming with just a second left in the 59th minute.  
- A foul from the Quakers in the 64th minute set up a penalty kick for Centre. AJ Daniels took the shot for the Colonels and converted to tie the match at 1-1. 
- Centre had four shots in the final minute but none landed and the horn sounded on a 1-all tie. 

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE   
- Brendan Egan, Finnegan Deem-Ranzetta, AJ Daniels, and Drew Davidson were named to the All XI team for the tournament event. 
- Daniels' goal was his first of the season for the three-year member of the Colonel squad. 
- Not only were the teams even in total shots (15-15) but the squads also shared possession of the ball for an equal amount of time. 
- Those 15 shots were the most shots that Centre has taken thus far this season. 
- Five shots were stopped by Colonel keeper Brendan Egan. The senior played all 90 minutes in goal which he has done in each of the three previous games this season. 

UP NEXT   
Centre welcomes fellow Kentucky institution Berea College to Danville later this week. The squads will face off on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Amend Field.
