Colonels allow season low in 64-42 win over Hendrix

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's basketball remained unbeaten in conference play as they rode a strong defensive performance to a 64-42 victory over the Hendrix Warriors on Friday night.
 
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
 
- The Colonels got off to a cold start in the opening quarter as Hendrix took a 15-9 lead with just under three minutes to go in the period. Centre started to claw back, eventually tying the score after a drive by Lilly Reid and then free throws by Arin Nipp and Reid. The Warriors buried a long three-pointer at the buzzer to take an 18-15 lead after one.
- To start the second quarter, the Colonels reeled off six straight points, capped off by consecutive buckets from Bailey Rucker. The two teams traded baskets over the next several minutes before Ka'Niah Edelen scored and Centre took a 27-25 lead at the half.
- Rucker and Reid buried threes to start the third quarter, finally giving Centre a cushion. The Colonels led by six when Anna Thomas hit a three to make it 40-33. A putback by Nipp at the buzzer put the Colonels on top by double figures for the first time at 43-33.
- The defense continued to clamp down on the Warriors as Centre scored the first seven points of the fourth period. Three-pointers by Nipp and Ryleigh Campbell gave Centre a 20-point edge at 58-38 and the Colonels reached their largest lead of the game at the end on a three by Kylie Floyd.
 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
 
- Rucker had one of her best statistical games of the season, leading all players with 24 points to go along with six rebounds.
- The Colonels outrebounded the Warriors 46-34, led by Katelyn Stiltner with nine boards.
- Centre assisted on 14 of 23 made baskets, with Reid leading the way with seven.

The Colonels will return to action on Sunday as they face the Rhodes Lynx.
