DANVILLE, Ky.- Centre women's basketball returned to Alumni Gymnasium to host Southern Athletic Association's (SAA) Millsaps for a Friday night clash. The Colonels' late rally came up short, falling to the Majors by a score of 74-61.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The contest was tight in the opening five minutes,
Lilly Reid and
Bailey Rucker matching the Majors point for point. Out of the media time out, Millsaps created distance from long range, outscoring the Colonels 13-4 to make it 21-9 entering quarter two.
- The Majors continued to separate themselves with a mid-quarter, 13-point stretch to expand the deficit to as much as 23. In the final three minutes of the half,
Emma Perna and
Trinity Armour chipped away with a pair of three points plays, Perna from behind the arc, Armour from the paint with a connecting free-throw. Entering halftime, the score read Millsaps 39, Centre 22.
- The two squads swapped buckets for much of the third quarter, neither team having more than a five-point run. The Colonels made their best run in the final frame,
Lindsay Jessie and
Anna Thomas opening with a 5-2 stretch. In the final three minutes, Centre struck hot with a 12-1 scoring run but when time expired, the final was set at 74-61, the Majors favoring.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Ka' Niah Edelen led the Colonels in points and assists, having 12 points and assisting five. Reid followed with 11 points while Rucker had ten.

Arin Nipp, Rucker, and Edelen tied for Centre's lead in rebounds, each having four off the glass.
- The Colonels favored in bench point, having 37 to the Majors' 27.
- Centre just edged out Millsaps in fast break points with nine to their eight.

Women's basketball will again face the Majors and Tigers, this time on the road. They'll travel to Sewanee on Wednesday, Jan. 29 before facing Millsaps on Sunday, Feb. 2.
