Centre entered Friday night's game against Berry knowing the result could prove a massive swing in the SAA Tournament seeding. The Colonels took another step in solidifying their spot in the tourney as a 2nd half goal from
Mary Martin Hampton gave Centre a 1-0 win. The result was a big 3 points in the standings, moving Centre from 6th to 4th with 2 games to go in the regular season.
On a night where Centre dominated the ball and field position, it was the Vikings that had the first go on goal in the 7th minute, but Centre's
Madeline Redmon was right there for the stop. The Colonel defense carried the rest of the night as Redmon only faced one more shot from there on out.
Nicole Limehouse had Centre's first try on goal in the 14th minute, sailing just wide left. The Colonels' best chance in the first half came in the 30th minute when
Alexis Kronenthal rocketed a grounder toward the left corner of goal, but Berry's keeper was able to get a fingertip on the ball to flick it just wide of the post.
Ella Mann had a clean look in the 37th minute but was also denied on a diving stop as the game went scoreless to halftime.
Centre began the second half even more dominant with the ball and position. Mann had 2 more tries in the opening minutes but missed wide on both. The pressure continued and paid off in the 58th minute.
Claire Mullen slalomed through multiple Vikings on her way into the right side of the Berry box. She slid a pass to the back post where
Mary Martin Hampton was there to tuck it away and give the Colonels the lead it rightly deserved. Mann nearly doubled the lead in the 78th minute on Centre's final quality shot of the night.
Centre held a 13-3 edge in total shots and 6-2 on goal. The Colonel pressure also resulted in 8 corner kicks.
The Colonels close out the 2025 home slate with Senior Day on Sunday against Oglethorpe. Senior Day honors begin at approximately 12:40pm with kickoff at Amend Field slated for 1:00pm.
