Centre men place 16th at Louisville Classic

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Centre men's cross country team returned from an idle week to Tom Sawyer Park to race in the Louisville Classic against a field of teams from all divisions. The Colonels came away with a 16th place finish out of 41 teams.

The Colonels finished with a combined team score of 497 points to finish in 16th overall, five points ahead of Kalamazoo. Centre finished ninth overall among Division III teams in the field.

Individually, three of Centre's top five runners posted personal best 8k times. The top finisher for the Colonels once again was senior Reeve VanDemark, who clocked in at 25:55.4 to land just inside the individual top 50 at 41st overall.

The first PR of the day for the Colonels belonged to freshman Houston Brooks, who shaved over 20 seconds off his previous career best 8k time to cross the finish line in 26:08.5. Junior Carter Russell posted a time of 26:38.8 for another personal best 8k time.

Seniors Ike Synnestvedt and Noah George rounded out the rest of Centre's scored times, finishing in a respective 26:46.7 and 26:52.4, with the latter time representing a new career best 8k time for George.

NEXT UP

The Colonels will be idle next week and will return to action on Oct. 18 as they race in the Inter-Regional Rumble at Oberlin.
