Women's cross country takes second at SAA Championships

GEORGETOWN, Texas - The Centre women's cross country team headed to Southwestern to compete in the Southern Athletic Association Championships. The Colonels finished second out of eight teams.

The Centre women had two of the top three finishers in the race, but Trinity took the next six spots in the standings to win the meet with 30 points. The Colonels finished second with 57 points, followed by Rhodes with 65.

Individually, the top finisher on the day for Centre on the women's side was Sophie Bouldin, as the reigning SAA Athlete of the Year finished second in today's race with a 3.73 mile time of 22:14.6.

Joining Bouldin on the All-SAA First Team was Gracie West, who finished immediately behind Bouldin a few seconds later to take third place overall with a time of 22:23.9.

The final All-SAA honoree for the Colonels was senior Cara Taylor, who landed just inside the overall top 15 with a time of 23:23.6 to finish in 13th place overall, earning Honorable Mention recognition.

First-year Savannah Setzer and sophomore Claire Barnett both cracked the overall top 20 of counted times to round out Centre's scoring times for the day, finishing in a respective 23:42.5 and 23:44.4, with Adelyn Shupert finishing right behind them at 23:47.7.

The Colonels will return to action in two weeks as they race in the Great Lakes Regional Championships on Nov. 15.
