11/7/2025 10:51:00 PM

After a week off following the Battle in the Bluegrass, Centre Swim & Dive was back in action on Friday night at DePauw.

Men's Swimming picked up a 135-108 win, while the women came up just short to DePauw, 127-110. Centre Diving dominated both boards as the men and women swept the top-3 in each discipline.

Both 200 medley relay "A" teams came in a close 2nd place to DePauw to start the night. The women fell short by just 1.93 seconds while the men were only 1.07 seconds off the pace. Sarah Feild picked up the first win of the night for the Colonels as she took home first in the 1000 free in a time of 10:56.65. Emma Meyer swam 3rd and Vreni Reichard placed 5th.

Next was the men's 1000 free where Brady Miller put on the show of the night. He grabbed a lead of 1.30 seconds after the first 50 and never looked back. All 20 of his splits were sub-30 seconds as he crushed the field in a time of 9:43.57 to win by over 43 seconds. Gavin Schoeling soon followed with a win in the 200 free in a time of 1:47.76 to win by over a second. Jackson Campbell placed 4th with Quinn Moore in 5th.

Caroline Lee and Xavier Moore picked up 2nd place finishes in the 50 free. Lee's time of 24.73 was just two-tenths off the win. Moore came up just short by 0.28 seconds. Centre picked up more valuable team points in the 200 IM as Ava Gates and Avery Gabbard swam 2nd and 3rd, respectively. Centre Men finished 2-4 in the same event, led by Jake Holmes' runner-up time of 2:00.27.

Next came the first diving competition of the night: the women's 3-meter. Erin Dannemiller picked up a win with a total score of 192.60, less than a point ahead of teammate Riley Taylor in 2nd. Sara Jean Postle was not far behind in 3rd with a 177.60. The men were up next on the 1-meter board. The event and night belonged to the Justin Toth. The All-American held off Garrett George and Brandon Anderson to grab the win with a total score of 309.40.

Swim resumed as Libby Taylor came home 2nd in the 100 fly in a time of 1:01.72 for more team points. Jack Liau was able to do one better on the men's side as he took home the win thanks to a final 50 of 27.49, more than a second faster than the field to finish in a total time of 52.01 seconds.

The next Colonel win came in the men's 100 back. Xavier Moore charged out strong with an opening 50 of 25.76 to grab a narrow lead. He kept the pace up better than anyone over the final 50 to take the victory in a time of 53.23 seconds. Brady Miller then dominated again, this time in the 500 free. He was again the only swimmer to go sub-30 seconds in each split as he cruised to the win by over 7 seconds.

Back on the diving boards, the women took their turn on the 1-meter. Erin Dannemiller stayed atop the scoring with a total of 223.60. Riley Taylor was 2nd at 192.60 with Sara Jean Postle a close 3rd in 189.55. When the men went to the high board, the results stayed the same. Toth, George, and Anderson all were over 100 points better than any DePauw diver to claim another podium sweep.

Ava Gates then won the 100 breast in a time of 1:07.31. Tiernan Moore followed suit for the Centre men to grab the win in 59.03 seconds, just ahead of Jack Liau (59.59) and Mason McCallum (1:00.46).

The Colonels are right back in action on Saturday as they stay in Indiana to take on Wabash with the action starting at Noon.
