NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - The Centre volleyball team saw its four-game winning streak snap on Friday night as the Colonels lost in straight sets to a Christopher Newport team that was receiving votes in the Nov. 4 AVCA poll.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The two teams traded the lead multiple times during the opening set with the host Captains breaking through near the midway point. Centre cut the deficit to one point four separate times, but could not even the score as CNU won by a score of 25-21.
- In the second set, Christopher Newport broke a 10-10 tie with a 9-2 run and never looked back, winning by a score of 25-17.
- The Captains got off to the hot start in the third set as they jumped out to a 12-4. The Colonels could get no closer than five points the rest of the way as CNU took the match with a 25-17 win.

The Colonels will wrap up both the Christopher Newport tournament and the regular season on Saturday with an 11 AM matchup against the Eastern Eagles.
