LEXINGTON, Ky. - With the release of today's American Volleyball Coaches Association poll, Centre volleyball has made even more history as they sit at no. 1 in the nation. It is the first time a Centre team has been ranked first in the nation in any sport since the football team defeated Harvard in 1921's C6H0 game.
Centre sits at 25-1 on the season after going 3-0 this weekend with wins over Huntingdon, Rhodes and Millsaps, all in straight sets. The Colonels have won 15 consecutive matches and 23 consecutive sets, and with their victory over Millsaps on Oct. 31, clinched the outright regular season title in a stacked Southern Athletic Association that also features no. 6 Berry and no. 19 Trinity.
The Colonels will head to Atlanta this weekend for a doubleheader against no. 23 Emory and no. 29 Washington & Lee to close out the regular season.
