Colonels fall to Wabash in tournament action

DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre men's basketball team played its second game in 24 hours to wrap up the Lee's Famous Recipe Classic as they fell to the Wabash Little Giants by a score of 75-62 inside Alumni Gym.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- The Colonels got off to another good start as Drake Ingram and Nolan Wahl each buried three-pointers in the opening minutes to lift Centre to an early 16-8 lead.
- The Giants slowly chipped away at the Centre lead and eventually grabbed the advantage with a 7-0 run to take a 26-21 lead with five minutes remaining until halftime.
- Centre regrouped down the closing stretch of the half. Wahl and Izaiyah Villafuerte knocked down threes to cut the deficit to one point. A layup by Garrison Hildebrant tied the score at 31-31 and baskets by Wahl and Ryan Shene put the Colonels ahead 35-33 at the break.
- The two teams traded the lead early in the second half. Hunter Coleman knocked one down to give Centre a 40-38 advantage with just under 15 minutes left. After Wabash regained the lead, Graham Krezmien connected a pair of free throws to put the Colonels back on top 44-43.
- That turned out to be the last lead the Colonels enjoyed for the day as Wabash quickly went back ahead. Centre battled back to tie the game on several occasions, with the last one coming on an Ingram three with less than seven minutes left, but that was as close as they got as Wabash shot a great clip from the free throw line all day long and iced the game at the charity stripe.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Wahl led the Colonels with 15 points, followed by Ingram with 11.
- Shene finished with a game high ten rebounds to go along with a career high seven assists.
