Centre wins Big vs Covenant

Danville, KY——— Centre on a strong run as they check another game with a win, with a final score of 76-50. Colonel Lilly Reid was a standout as she set a new career high at 28 points.

The game started with Centre on a 7-0 run, led by Lilly Reid, who attacked on the inside and scored in transition. Covenant's early turnovers enabled Centre to control the pace. Covenant settled in midway through the quarter, with plays from Amanda Neff and a three-pointer from Anna Everett, closing the gap to 11-10. The Colonels answered following a timeout with two free throws from Charley Harper, but Covenant remained within one possession with a layup from Chloe Bertrand.

Centre closed the quarter with a strong defense, proving to be difficult for Covenant to score as Reid went on another scoring burst, with a free throw and drilled a buzzer-beating jumper to push the lead to six.

Covenant comes out for the second quarter with a layup from Jada Sanders, but the Colonels were able to maintain the lead with steady scoring from Reid, Nipp, and Armour. Chloe Bertrand helped keep Covenant in range with two scoring plays in the paint and two free throws, but Centre's defensive pressure didn't let up as they forced repeated turnovers and limited Covenant to single-shot possessions, scoring heading to halftime 36-22.

The dominating pace continues on into the third quarter, as Centre continued to outscore, which started with scoring plays from Lindsay Jessie and a big run led by Lilly Reid, who had a layup, jumper, and four free throws. stretched the lead above 20 points.

Defense is a common thread for Centre, as the turnovers and turned into transition opportunities for Armour, Reid, and Russell carry on issues for Covenant. Late in the quarter, Isabelle Combs added two layups to close the period, while Covenant managed only a few baskets and free throws from Amanda Neff and Chloe Bertrand. The lead extended out to 29 for Centre heading into the fourth quarter.

Covenant opened the fourth with two quick baskets from Chloe Bertrand and Amanda Neff, trimming the deficit slightly, but Centre answered with steady scoring and never let the lead fall below 20.

Covenant kept the momentum going with Amanda Neff, who scored on a jumper, three, and hit several free throws. Anna Everett also knocked down a three to keep Covenant within striking distance; however, Centre kept up with controlled plays on the boards and forced turnovers, pushing to a high 26 lead. Colonels were able to close the game with a three from Harper in the final minute.
