Women's track gears up for conference finals at Wittenberg Invite

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - Today was the final regular season meet for Centre women's track & field as the Colonels competed in the Wittenberg Invitational against an Ohio-heavy field of teams from all divisions. The event was not scored, but that didn't stop the Centre women from turning in numerous fine performances.

In the sprints, Madjo Doumbia had another strong race in the 60m as she finished third overall with a time of 7.66. The women's 200m saw Chloe Hein post the fastest time for the Colonels as the All-American long jumper clocked in at 25.88 to finish fifth.

A new school record fell in the women's 500m as Janea Bottinelli won the race with a converted time of 1:21.47, breaking the record Emily Grinstead had held since 2012.

One of the top events of the day for the Colonels on the women's side was the triple jump as Marie De Amour Manirakiza finished second with a mark of 33-11.5, with Annabelle Tarter and Arden Campbell also finishing in the top eight overall.

Finally, in the pole vault, Lyla Bordwine posted a clear of 10-6 to finish fifth overall.

The next meet for the Colonels will be the SAA Championships, which will take place inside Champions Hall on Feb. 28-Mar. 1.
