DANVILLE, Ky. - After winning a pair of games in Saturday's doubleheader, the Centre baseball team made it three wins in a row as they knocked off the Brevard Tornados by a score of 10-5.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Centre bats set the tone early as
Ayden Lohr led off by depositing a deep fly ball over the big wall in left field for the first Centre homer of the season and a quick 1-0 lead for the Colonels.
- With runners on first and second in the bottom of the second, a
Ben Prather pop-up fell in between three defenders for a surprise single that allowed
Matthew Maggard to score. Prather and Lohr then executed a perfect double steal, with Lohr stealing home to make it 3-0.
- Centre added to the lead in the third after
Baylor Woodall tripled into the gap and eventually scored on an RBI double from Maggard.
- Brevard got on the board with a run in the fourth, but Centre responded with three in the fifth.
Evan Weyler started the scoring with a long solo home run to left field. After consecutive base hits by
JT Weisberg and Woodall,
Aaron Lopez and
Jamison Craig each delivered RBI singles and Centre led 7-1.
- Weisberg manufactured another Centre run in the seventh as he reached and advanced on an error before stealing third and home to make it an 8-1 game.
- Up 8-3 in the eighth, the Colonels scored their final runs of the evening on an RBI base hit by Weyler and another successful double steal that saw
Chase Austin cross the plate.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- The Colonels managed 15 hits to score their ten runs, with Weyler and Craig leading with three each.
- Centre had a season high nine stolen bases in the win as Prather and Weisberg each finished with three.
- Freshman
Andrew Zimmerman earned his first career win as he allowed one run in five innings while striking out four.

The Colonels will go for four wins in a row as they host Asbury on Feb. 25.
