DANVILLE, Ky.- On Sunday, the number two seeded Centre women's basketball team hosted seventh seeded Hendrix in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Quarterfinals. Playing for a third time this season, the Colonels remained undefeated versus the Warriors, winning by a score of 76-67 to advance to the SAA semifinals.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Warriors led for much of the opening frame, going up by as much as eight. Out of the media timeout,
Ryleigh Campbell netted a three to open a late 16-2 run that gave Centre the lead.
Lindsay Jessie,
Arin Nipp, and
Lilly Reid found success from the charity stripe while
Kristen Whited made one from the paint and Campbell from long range again. Entering the second period, the Colonels led 23-19.
- Centre scorched the nets in the second period, creating distance after tripling the Warriors in points. In the second frame alone, the Colonels shot 73 percent from the floor, 80 percent from behind the arc, and a perfect 100 percent at the line for 28 points. Rucker led the push with 14 points and by halftime, Centre led 51-26.
- Out of the break, the Warriors began to rally, outscoring the Colonels 20-9. The Colonels favored early thanks to Rucker but a late 15-4 run from Hendrix cut the deficit to 14 entering the final frame.
- Hendrix continued their push into the fourth period, slowing the Colonels with a mid-quarter, 15-4 push to bring them within six points. In the final minute,
Anna Thomas,
Ka'Niah Edelen, and Reid netted five to bring the final score to Centre 76, Hendrix 67.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Rucker led the game in points with 23. Ried followed with 13 while Campbell possessed 11.

Lindsay Jessie led the game in assists with three.
- Reid claimed the first double-double of her career after tying for the game's leader in rebounds with ten.
- Centre favored off the glass with 43 rebounds compared to Hendrix's 36.
