DANVILLE, Ky.- Centre women's basketball returned home to host Oglethorpe in their annual Play for Kay Pink Out game. Although a second quarter set back, the Colonels' second half rally overwhelmed the Stormy Petrels, winning by a score of 69-62 to complete the season series sweep.

Bailey Rucker and
Katelyn Stiltner put Centre on the board early but four minutes in, the Stormy Petrels tied the game with a pair from long range. Just after, Rucker opened an 8-0 run featuring four points from
Lindsay Jessie. That, plus a later three from
Ryleigh Campbell gave Centre a five-point lead entering period two.
- Oglethorpe took control in the second quarter, clamping down their defense while more than doubling the Colonels in points. Landing in foul trouble, Centre offered the Petrels eight charity baskets that eventually placed Oglethorpe on top entering halftime, the score reading 32-27.
- Out of the locker room,
Ka'Niah Edelen and Rucker began to chip away at the Petrels' hold to come within one bucket. Jessie later continued the charge, answering every Oglethorpe basket that allowed
Katelyn Stiltner to eventually tie the game, then take the lead, with successive lay-ups. For the remainder of the frame, the two teams swapped a one-point edge,
Lilly Reid landing on top with a made free-throw in the final seconds.
- Opening the fourth period, the Stormy Petrels swiftly found themselves in foul trouble. Just two minutes in, Oglethorpe already possessed five team fouls that allowed Centre to net five of their initial seven points at the charity stripe. The Petrels rallied late to come within one point but in the final 30 seconds, Centre netted five at the line to ultimately win by a score of 69-62.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Rucker led the court in points, matching her career high of 28 that she coincidentally set in last year's game versus Oglethorpe. Adding 11 rebounds, the senior claimed her third double-double of the season.
- Jessie also notched double figure points, having ten and adding three rebounds.
- Reid led the game in steals with three.
- Edelen fronted the game in assists with four.
- Oglethorpe led from long range while the Colonels favored from the paint.
- The contest saw five ties.
