DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre baseball team recorded its first shutout of the 2025 season as the Colonels blanked Rose-Hulman 7-0 on Military Appreciation Day at Gary Wright Field.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels put runners on second and third in the bottom of the second following a leadoff double by
Aaron Lopez, a walk to
Baylor Woodall and a wild pitch. The Engineers looked to be out of the inning but an error led to both runners scoring, and the Colonels tacked on another as
JT Weisberg delivered a shot just past the diving shortstop for an RBI single.
- In the third,
Evan Weyler led off with a base hit and later scored on some aggressive baserunning following a single from
Baylor Woodall to make it 4-0.
- Both offenses went cold over the next few innings as
Ben Prather and
Aidan Christmas continued to shut down RHIT. In the eighth,
Chase Austin led off with a fly ball that landed just in front of the left fielder for a double. A hard base hit up the middle by pinch hitter
Evan Rygalski allowed pinch runner
Carson Mire to score to make it 5-0. Lohr then capped off his excellent day at the plate with a two-out, two-run opposite field homer to cap off the scoring.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Lohr had one of the best games of his young career, going 4-5 at the plate with two RBIs. Woodall and Austin each finished with two hits.
- Prather struck out nine and allowed just two hits in six innings to get his first win of the year. Christmas struck out two in three scoreless innings of relief.
