JACKSON, Miss. – The Centre baseball team wrapped up its weekend series as they played the rubber match against the Millsaps Majors. This game went to the home team as Millsaps got the win by the score of 7-4.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels manufactured a run in the opening frame after
Ben Prather walked, stole the next two bases and later scored after
Evan Rygalski ripped a base hit through the left side.
- Centre added to the lead in the top of the second as
Aaron Lopez walked, advanced on a wild pitch and was driven in on an RBI double by
Ayden Lohr, who picked up his seventh hit of the series.
- Millsaps tied the game in the bottom of the second before Centre answered back in the third as Rygalski was hit by a pitch,
Chase Austin doubled and ball four to
Jamison Craig got away, allowing Rygalski to score to make it 3-2.
- The Millsaps bats took over the next two innings, scoring five runs to go up 7-3. In the eighth, Austin led off with another double and eventually scored as Craig legged out an infield single to make it 7-4. The Majors scored three more in the bottom of the inning to effectively put the game away.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Austin finished with three of Centre's seven hits on the day and was the only Centre player to finish with more than one hit.
- The Colonels finished with three stolen bases on the day, led by
Ben Prather with three.
NEXT UP
The Colonels will return home on Mar. 19 for a non-conference matchup against Spalding. The teams split their two meetings last year with the road team winning both games.
