GREENSBORO, N.C. – One of the most successful trips to the NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships in program history has come to an end for the Centre program.
The Centre men finished the 2025 Championships 15th overall (96 points) which marks the third best men's team finish in the program's history. The five First Team All-American honors were the largest ever haul of those honors in a single NCAA Championship in the storied history of Colonel swimming. Three Second Team All-American honors made the overall total eight, which was another program record for the Gold & White.
Tiernan Moore was the only Colonel to compete on Saturday. He finished 18th in the men's 200 breaststroke prelim in 2:01.06 which had him less than a second outside of the consolation final.
FRIDAY RECAP
Three more All-American honors came for Centre swimming & diving on the third day of the 2025 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships after a strong day of competition.
Avery Balch earned his second runner-up finish of the title event, and his second 2025 First Team All-American honor, with an excellent showing in the one-meter dive. He put up 510.35 points to finish second in the finals after a prelim performance that saw him tally 515.90 points.
Justin Toth was the other Colonel in the top final and earned another First Team All-American honor. He finished fourth with 504.50 points in the final. That was a one place improvement from the prelims where he scored 495.30 points.
Brandon Anderson earned a second Second Team All-American nod of the meet with a 13th place finish in the consolation final. He finished 15th in the prelims thanks to a final score of 416.25. Garrett George finished 19th in the preliminary round with a score of 407.45.
There were also two swimmers in action for the Gold & White. Callie West touched the wall in 56.17 in the women's 100 backstroke to finish 26th. Tiernan Moore narrowly missed the final in the men's 100 breaststroke with a 54.49 finish that placed him in the 18th spot.
THURSDAY RECAP
The second day of the 2025 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships saw action by one Colonel in a close battle.
Callie West took to the pool for the 100 butterfly preliminary on Thursday morning. The senior touched the wall in 55.54, which placed her in 24th. That time was just two tenths of a second from a finals-qualifying mark.
WEDNESDAY RECAP
The Centre swimming & diving team saw three men's divers earn First Team All-America honors and two take home Second Team nods on the first day of the 2025 NCAA Division III Swimming & Diving Championships on Wednesday.
The Colonels are tied for second with Carnegie Mellon on the men's side with a total of 60 points through nine events.
Avery Balch was the top performer for the Gold & White in the three-meter dive. He finished first in the preliminary round with a score of 547.65. The senior then tallied a mark of 555.35 in the finals to land in second place.
Rowan Fitzsimmons and
Justin Toth also earned spots in the top final. Fitzsimmons earned third place in the final with a score of points. The sophomore improved on his fourth-place finish from last season. Toth placed fifth in the final with a tally of 495.45, which was an improvement of nearly 20 points over his prelim mark.
Centre's other two divers in attendance,
Brandon Anderson and
Garrett George, made noise in the consolation final. George placed ninth with 506.65 points to earn Second Team honors. Anderson finished 13th thanks to a 458.85 point performance to also earn a Second Team nod.
On the swimming side,
Callie West finished 24th in the women's 50 freestyle with a finish in 23.46 and
Tiernan Moore placed 43rd in the men's 200 IM with a time of 1:56.71.
