Women's track breaks two more records at Centre Twilight

DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre women's track & field competed in its final meet before the conference championships as the Colonels hosted the Centre Twilight. The meet was not scored, but this did not stop two more school records from falling by the wayside.
 
The first record came in the 100m as Madjo Doumbia posted a time of 11.68 to surpass her previous school high mark and get the win. Amari Robinson came in third in the race, with Faith Peterson finishing second. In the 200m it was Chloe Hein who picked up the victory with a time of 24.81. Robinson followed shortly thereafter in second place, with Alanna Masden in eighth. Peterson was the top finisher for the Centre women in the 400m, posting a time of 1:01.19 to finish in fourth, followed by Masden in sixth and Syra Lundergan in seventh.
 
The Colonels had half of the top eight finishers in the 800m. Erin Haugh got the win with a time of 2:19.37, followed by Kate Keller in fourth, Layce Sanner in fifth and Rachel Gaynor in seventh. In the 1500m, Emma Musgrave finished second overall with a time of 4:58.66, followed by Adelyn Shupert in fourth place. The 5k played out in a similar fashion to the 800, with half of the top eight finishers. Anna Yates led the way with a time of 20:01.98 to get the win, with Hannah Jemley in third place, Caroline Buckle in fifth and Lily Matthiessen in sixth.
 
Centre picked up wins in both hurdling events. Alexandria Masden took first place in the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.56. In the 400m hurdles, Arden Campbell finished in 1:08.41 to get the win.
 
The next record to fall came in the 4x100m relay as the team of Robinson, Hein, Doumbia and Janea Bottinelli shaved 0.07 seconds off their previous record time to finish in 47.80. In the 4x400m relay, the team of Bottinelli, Alexandria Masden, Peterson and Doumbia won in 3:58.53.
 
Moving to the jumping events, the Colonels earned two more event wins. Hein took first place in the long jump with a mark of 19-2 (5.84m), with Serena McNeilly, Robinson and Bottinelli all cracking the top eight. First-year Lyla Bordwine won the pole vault with a clear of 10-2.75 (3.12m). In the high jump, Claire Ackerman cleared 4-9 (1.45m) to take fourth place, followed by Riley Brown in sixth. In the triple jump, Annabelle Tarter posted a mark of 32-7.75 (9.95m) to finish sixth, with Ackerman in eighth.
 
The Colonels had another strong showing in the throws. In the shot put, Centre had the top four throws of the day. Lindsey Browning and Lindsay Jessie tied for first with throws of 37-5 (11.40m), with Caeley Wilson in third and Zoey Shahid-Scott in fourth. Jessie later won the discus with a throw of 128-0 (39.01m), with Browning in fourth, Shahid-Scott in fifth and Kendra Bizzell in eighth. In the hammer, Shahid-Scott had the high mark for the Colonels, finishing sixth with a mark of 125-0, followed by Jessie in seventh. In the javelin, Lizzy Judy took fifth place with a throw of 80-2 (24.43m).

The Colonels will return to action on Apr. 25-26 with the Southern Athletic Association Championships.
