BEREA, Ky. - Centre men's cross country got the 2025 season off to a strong start as they took first place in their opening meet at the BC/CC Jamboree.
The Colonels tied Cumberlands with a combined team score of 29 points, but the Colonels broke the tie after three of their top five runners finished ahead of the respective finishers on Cumberlands. All seven of Centre's counted finishers landed inside the individual top 20.
Individually, the fastest time of the 5k race for the Colonels belonged to freshman
Houston Brooks, who clocked in at 15:50.6 to take third place overall in his first collegiate race.
Pack running was the story for the Colonels as they sent a handful of runners across the finish line to follow Brooks, as
Liam Black and
Carter Russell took the next two places in the race with respective times of 16:02.6 and 16:06.2.
Reeve VanDemark followed shortly after with a time of 16:12.9 to finish seventh.
Noah George gave Centre five finishers in the top ten as he placed tenth overall with a time of 16:20.4.
Henry Downs and
James Schroeder posted respective finishes of 14th and 15th place,.
