DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre volleyball team wrapped up play at the Centre invitational with a doubleheader against Washington & Lee and Wilmington. After falling to W&L in straight sets, the Colonels bounced back with a 3-0 win over Wilmington.
Game 1: Washington & Lee 3, Centre 0
- The opening stages of the opening set belonged to the Colonels as Centre pulled ahead to an early 10-4 lead. Over time, the visiting Generals battled back and took the lead for the first time at 17-16. Centre pulled to within a point several times, but could not get over the hump as W&L won 25-21.
- The Generals got off to a hot start in set 2 as they jumped out to a 10-2 lead and never looked back, eventually winning by a score of 25-17.
- The third set was the closest of the match as the lead changed hands multiple times throughout. W&L took a 24-19 lead before Centre staged a furious rally, fighting off the next four match points before falling 25-23.
Game 2: Centre 3, Wilmington 0

Syd Bietz delivered consecutive aces to lift Centre to an early lead in set 1 and the Colonels never trailed the rest of the way. Centre led by as many as 11 points and Bietz put home the final kill on a 25-14 win.
- The second set was the closest of the contest with neither team able to create much distance. Centre led 22-21 before Bietz and
Abby Swartz delivered consecutive kills to force set point.
Hollye Tate delivered the clinching kill on a 25-22 Centre victory.
- In the third set, Centre scored six of the first seven points and eventually led by as many as ten points, never trailing and winning by a score of 25-16.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORES
- Swartz paced the Colonels with nine kills in game 1. In game 2 Bietz led all players with nine kills to go along with four aces and a game high 13 digs.
- Centre held a 37-31 edge in assists against W&L, led by
Olivia Chojnacki with a career high 22. Chojnacki delivered a game high 15 assists against Wilmington.

Emersyn Pannell led the Colonels with 15 digs against the Generals.
