Sunday's weather was perfect at Amend Field as Women's Soccer hosted Division II, Kentucky Wesleyan. The Colonel offense was equally exquisite in the opening 45 minutes with 3 goals, more than enough to come away with a 4-2 win.
Kentucky Wesleyan tallied the opening score in the 10th minute, but the lead lasted just 3 minutes, 8 seconds.
Claire Cavacini continued her roll with a clever finish from
Lily Burchett to draw the Colonels level in the 13th minute. Centre continued to dominate possession and the work paid off again in the 27th minute when
Tessa Miles broke into the Panther box and fired a shot home to give the Colonels the lead for good.
Riley Givens got in on the fun in the 37th minute with her 1st goal of the season on a deflected ball from
Zara McCarthy. Centre had numerous chances in the half with eight shots on goal in the opening 45.
Grace Plummer gave the Colonels a 4-1 lead in the 74th minute en route to the win. In total, Centre's offense continued its strong start with 10 of the team's 14 attempted shots being on target.
Madeline Redmon started in goal for the 2nd straight game, stopping 3 of 4 shots in 75 minutes of play.
Gracie Zutterman then came on in the 76th minute to make her Centre debut.
The Colonels stay home next Saturday as Wilmington comes to Amend Field. Kickoff is set for 1:00pm.
