SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Centre women's cross country continued its strong start to the 2025 season as they raced in the NCAA Pre-National Meet. Competing against the strongest field they have faced all season, the Colonels finished in sixth place overall.
The Colonels finished with a combined team score of 164 points to land solidly in sixth place, 28 points behind Colby and 30 points ahead of Illinois Wesleyan. Centre also finished ahead of a pair of SAA opponents in Berry and Oglethorpe.
Individually, the top time of the day for the Centre women belonged to
Gracie West, as the Week 1 SAA Women's Runner of the Week finished 13th overall, posting a 6k time of 22:37.6.
Fellow senior
Sophie Bouldin gave the Colonels two runners inside the individual top 20 as she posted a time of 23:00.8 to finish in 18th place overall.
The final three scored runners for the Colonels finished within seconds of one another.
Cara Taylor posted a time of 24:08.0, followed by
Claire Barnett in 24:14.7 and
Emma Musgrave in 24:24.3, all landing just inside the individual top 50.
Over the next 25 seconds of the race,
Adelyn Shupert,
Marissa Polio and
Mary Darling all crossed the finish line as well, giving Centre eight finishers under 25 minutes.
