SHELBYVILLE, Ind. - Centre men's cross country pulled of its second win in as many weeks as the Colonels utilized superior depth to take first place in the ten-team field at the Grizzly Invitational, hosted by Franklin.
Centre finished with a combined team score of 46 points to defeat second place Manchester by nine points. No other college team in the field finished at under 100 points for the meet.
The Colonels were able to pull off the win because all seven of their counted runners finished inside the individual top 20 for the 5k race. The first person from Centre to cross the finish line was
Reeve VanDemark, who finished second overall with a time of 15:59.2.
Sophomore
Liam Black was the only other runner for Centre on the men's side to land inside the overall top ten as he posted a sixth place finish and a time of 16:12.6.
Carter Russell finished 11th overall with a time of 16:20.1, triggering a string of four of the next five finishers in the race to wear gold and white.
Noah George posted a flat 16:25 to come in 13th place, followed directly by
Houston Brooks in 16:25.5 and
Henry Downs in 16:27.9.
Quinn Gulden finished 18th overall in 16:32.7 to cap off the top seven for the Centre men.

The Colonels will have the next week off and will be back on the course on Sept. 20 as they head to Spartanburg, S.C. for this year's NCAA Pre-National Meet.
