Colonels Fall

Atlanta, GA--- The Colonels fall to Oglethorpe 90-66

Oglethorpe gained control early in the first quarter, featuring strong perimeter shooting, active defense, and balanced scoring to build momentum over Centre. Briley Elder contributed to the early spark, knocking down a three-pointer and later adding assists and a steal, while Sheraton Foster and Keimarya Rivers attacked the lane for high-percentage looks.

Centre struggled to find rhythm offensively early on, missing several jumpers and committing turnovers that led to transition opportunities for Oglethorpe. Trinity Armour and Lilly Reid worked inside to keep Centre within reach.

The Second quarter featured a back-and-forth battle, with the Colonels putting up a strong response while Oglethorpe worked to maintain its edge through timely shooting. The period opened with frequent trips to the free-throw line for both teams.

Centre found momentum behind Ryleigh Campbell and Tessa Miles, whose combined free throws, interior finishes, and defensive pressure. Lilly Reid gave a boost with a three-pointer and a jumper, helping cut into the lead.

Oglethorpe responded with balanced offense and maintained defensive pressure. Anna Conza delivered a big scoring spark, knocking down both a midrange jumper and a three-pointer, while Keimarya Rivera consistently attacked the rim and added points at the line.

Straight out of the half, both teams are battling, turning the quarter into a physical, defense-heavy stretch, battling on the glass and trading trips to the free-throw line.
Oglethorpe slowly extended their lead behind Keimarya Rivera, who attacked the rim and was steady at the free-throw line. Marlie Battle had a presence on both ends, scoring inside while recording multiple defensive rebounds and blocks, disrupting Centre's rhythm.

Centre had spurts of offense from Reid and Armour, with Reid scoring a jumper and later finishing on the inside to keep the colonels within striking distance. Despite strong rebounding efforts from Claire Russell and Tessa Miles, Centre continued to miss shots in traffic, limiting its ability to close the gap.

The Stormy Petrels controlled the pace from the opening minutes, answering every Centre run with timely baskets. Centre showed fight behind Lilly Reid and Lola Fouts, who combined for perimeter shooting, steals, and transition opportunities to keep the Colonels competitive. Tessa Miles added to the competitive energy by creating turnovers and attacking the basket, while Armour battled inside for rebounds and second-chance buckets. As the clock wound down, Oglethorpe maintained control and intensity, preventing the Colonels from mounting a late comeback. The game ends with Oglethrope winning 90-66 over Centre
