Sewanee, TN – Centre Colonels have a rough start to conference play, dropping in their opening conference game to Sewanee, 5-1.
The first quarter started defensively for the Colonels, as the Tigers came out firing and put a couple early shots on goal. Colonels' goalie
Eliza Hensley stayed composed, making key saves to keep the Tigers off the board early.
Both teams traded penalty corners midway through, but no one could break through until late in the quarter, when the Tigers scored on Molly Haskell to take a 1-0 lead into the second.
The Colonels came out of the second quarter with strong offensive pressure as
Abbie Woolley found the back of the net off an assist from
Ashley Hamilton.
Both teams traded fouls in a tight battle midway through, before Sewanee added another as Keagan Southall scored off an assist from Patty Arwine. The Tigers closed out the quarter with another goal to take a 3-1 lead into halftime.
Out of the half, Centre started with a penalty corner and a shot on goal to put early offensive pressure on the Tigers; the Tigers flipped it quickly with a shot on goal, but Hensley made a key save.
Sewanee Schoener got one in off an assist from Ramsey to extend the lead to 4-1. Both teams traded fouls for the rest of the quarter, as neither side could add to the score.
The fourth quarter began with fouls against Sewanee as Natlie BeVier was issued a green card; Centre took advantage as they battled back, with an Abbie Wolley shot saved by Kylie Carter.
