Men's Soccer falls at Oglethorpe

ATLANTA, Ga. - Centre Men's Soccer fell in heartbreaking fashion on Sunday as Oglethorpe converted a penalty kick in the 86th minute to snag a 1-0 win over the Colonels.

Scoring chances were minimal for both sides in the first half. Oglethorpe had 3 total shots to just 1 for Centre. None of the tries were on the goal. Despite 5 combined corners, neither side threatened the goal as the game was scoreless at the break.

The teams needed minimal time for shots in the second half. Kai Forsythe had Centre's 1st in the 50th minute. Silas Pierzala had a shot just over two minutes later with both being saved. Landon Davis, and Jacob Tyler also had chances as the half went on but neither were converted. A big moment came in the 73rd minute as Gideon Malone was called for a foul inside the Centre box, setting Oglethorpe up for a penalty. Declan Miller was ready for the moment and stopped the PK for the second time this season to keep the game level. The situation repeated itself in the 86th minute as Malone was whistled for a foul in the box. This time, Oglethorpe did not miss and took the 1-0 lead. Centre could not dial up an equalizing chance en route to a fourth consecutive loss. Miller made 3 saves on the day.

Centre will look to bounce back next Friday when Southwestern comes to town. Kickoff at Amend Field is set for 8:00pm.
