Centre takes Second Win over Rhodes

Box Score Memphis, TN---- In their second match-up against Rhodes, your colonels come out on top again, winning against the Lynx 68-40.

Centre got off to an early start in the opening minutes of the first quarter with a jumper by Ryleigh Campbell. The Lynx tried to respond but had multiple missed baskets before scoring midway behind an in-the-paint jumper by Audrey Griffith; from there, Rhodes seemed to settle in offensively and assert on the glass.  

Late in the quarter, Rhodes extends the lead behind strong interior play and offensive rebounds by Audrey Griffth to create second-chance baskets. The Colonels struggled to capitalize on scoring as they had several missed three-point attempts and second-chance opportunities, only able to stay within reach from jumpers by Ka 'Niah Edelen, Lilly Reid, and Lola Fouts.

Centre doesn't take long to take control in the second quarter with a good three-pointer by Ryleigh Campbell in the first 15 seconds, off a Lilly Reid assist, cutting the deficit to four.
The defensive pressure began to build, back-to-back stops and strong rebounding from Claire Russell helped fuel transition opportunities, and a go-ahead three-pointer from Edelen gave Centre its first lead since the start of the game.

with the a strong defensive aided to a offensive push, as Centre controlled the glass, forced multiple Rhodes turnovers, and capitalized at the free-throw line behind Lola Fouts, who pushed the lead to five.

Rhodes tried to create energy late, Alyssa Bongiovanni provided a spark with a jumper and fast-break layup to trim the gap, but the Colonels forced two turnovers to maintain control heading into the half, up 25-19.

Coming out of the half, Centre exploded on offense with a three-pointer by Campbell, from a Reid assist, stretching the lead to nine. Rhodes was able to create a brief response behind Willingham, who scored twice early on.

Midway through the quarter, Centre extended separation at the free-throw line, following a defensive sequence and forced turnover, Tessa Miles calmly knocked down two free throws.
Rhodes continued to battle by multiple baskets from Bongiovanni, but Centre closed the quarter strong with Russell creating a scoring layup for Reid, and Miles finished another transition opportunity to beat the buzzer.

Fourth quarter was where the Colonels were able to put the finishing touches on a dominant performance.

Emery Smoith opened the quarter with a three-pointer, and Trinity Armour followed with back-to-back scores to stretch the lead past 20. Rhodes had brief scores from Juliet Howell and Bongiovanni inside, but couldn't mount a comeback.

Centre wins over Rhodes, 68-40. The Colonels will be back at home to take on Sewanee on February 21st.
