ATLANTA - The first Southern Athletic Association weekly awards for baseball came out earlier this afternoon and Centre freshman
Nolan Asher has been named the conference Pitcher of the Week for games played through Feb. 15.
Asher had an extremely promising collegiate debut for Centre baseball as he got the start in the second game of Centre's season-opening doubleheader against a University of Chicago squad that received votes in the preseason top 25 polls.
On an efficient 80 pitches, Asher allowed just two hits across six innings while striking out nine batters without allowing a walk or a run, helping the Colonels defeat Chicago 9-1.
Centre baseball will return to action on Feb. 21-22 as the Colonels host Trine in a three-game series.
