Colonels shut out Berea for series sweep

DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre baseball equaled its longest winning streak of the season at seven games as the Colonels defeated the Berea Mountaineers 10-0 in seven innings to complete a weekend series sweep.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- The Colonels struck first in the second inning as Evan Rygalski doubled over the center fielder's head to lead off and both Forrest Day and Chase Austin walked. With two outs, Evan Weyler ripped a base hit to drive in a pair of runs and then an error led to another Centre run and a 3-0 lead.
- In the fourth, the Colonels loaded the bases again and increased the lead to 4-0 on a sacrifice fly by Weyler that plated Jamison Craig.
- The biggest inning of the day for Centre was the fourth. Baylor Woodall led off with a base hit, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a single from Forrest Day. The next three Centre hitters recorded RBIs as Craig singled, Austin tripled into the gap and Ayden Lohr hit a deep sac fly to put the Colonels on top 8-0.
- Centre added to the lead in the sixth as Matthew Maggard worked a long at-bat into a walk, and then a double into the gap by Woodall scored pinch runner Wesley Taylor. Rygalski then lined one up the middle for an RBI single to make it a 10-0 game.
- Relief pitchers Aidan Carr and Zach Heavern recorded the last five outs via strikeout to lock up the shutout victory.
