DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre baseball equaled its longest winning streak of the season at seven games as the Colonels defeated the Berea Mountaineers 10-0 in seven innings to complete a weekend series sweep.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels struck first in the second inning as
Evan Rygalski doubled over the center fielder's head to lead off and both
Forrest Day and
Chase Austin walked. With two outs,
Evan Weyler ripped a base hit to drive in a pair of runs and then an error led to another Centre run and a 3-0 lead.
- In the fourth, the Colonels loaded the bases again and increased the lead to 4-0 on a sacrifice fly by Weyler that plated
Jamison Craig.
- The biggest inning of the day for Centre was the fourth.
Baylor Woodall led off with a base hit, advanced on a wild pitch and scored on a single from
Forrest Day. The next three Centre hitters recorded RBIs as Craig singled, Austin tripled into the gap and
Ayden Lohr hit a deep sac fly to put the Colonels on top 8-0.
- Centre added to the lead in the sixth as
Matthew Maggard worked a long at-bat into a walk, and then a double into the gap by Woodall scored pinch runner
Wesley Taylor. Rygalski then lined one up the middle for an RBI single to make it a 10-0 game.
- Relief pitchers
Aidan Carr and
Zach Heavern recorded the last five outs via strikeout to lock up the shutout victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Centre had success in the bottom of the order as 6-7-8 hitters Woodall, Rygalski and Day combined for six hits and three RBIs in 11 plate appearances. Weyler led the Colonels with three RBIs.

Andrew Zimmerman earned his first victory of the year as he allowed two hits in five innings while striking out seven.
