DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre baseball team won its fifth game in a row as the Colonels completed a series sweep of Trine with a doubleheader victory on Saturday, winning by scores of 7-4 and 10-0.
Game 1: Centre 7, Trine 4
- In the second inning, Centre put runners on the corners after a leadoff walk from
Aaron Lopez and a base hit by
Evan Rygalski. After Rygalski stole second,
Baylor Woodall drove both runners in with a single for a quick 2-0 lead.
- Centre had runners on first and third again in the fourth and added to the lead when a picture perfect bunt single from
Jamison Craig scored
Graham Johnson to make it 3-0.
- Trine got back into the game with a two-run homer, but Centre got a run back in the fifth as
Ayden Lohr led off with a triple into the gap and
Evan Weyler ripped a base hit up the middle for a 4-2 Centre advantage.
- In the fifth, Craig led off with a double down the line. With two outs, Lohr singled up the middle to make it a 5-2 game. A wild pitch and a walk put runners on the corners once again and Lopez drove in a pair with a double into the power alley to make it 7-2.
- The Thunder picked up a pair of runs in the eighth on a solo homer and a sacrifice fly, but
Zach Heavern completed a long save with a scoreless ninth to secure the win for Centre.
Game 2: Centre 10, Trine 0 (8 innings)
- Centre again cracked the scoreboard first in the bottom of the second as Craig legged out an infield single and Johnson doubled into the gap for a quick lead for the Colonels.
- In the third, Centre loaded the bases after an infield hit, a walk and a hit by pitch. Craig worked a walk to drive in a run and make it 2-0, and then Woodall delivered another infield hit to put Centre on top by three.

Chase Austin led off the fourth with a walk and advanced to second on a balk, eventually scoring on a Lohr single to make it 4-0.
- The Colonels added another run in the fourth as Woodall deposited one over the left field scoreboard for a solo shot and a 5-0 lead for the home team.
- Centre had runners on second and third in the sixth and made it 6-0 after an RBI single from
JT Weisberg. A deep fly ball from Craig resulted in a two-run triple, and Johnson capped off the four-run inning with an RBI single.
- In the eighth,
Jonah Porter and
Wesley Taylor were hit by pitches and Centre ended the game via run rule as Woodall singled to bring home pinch runner
Tristan Vallone.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORES
- Centre pitchers struck out 13 Trine batters in game 1.
Nolan Asher got the win as the reigning SAA Pitcher of the Week struck out ten to improve to 2-0 on the season.
- Craig and Lohr led Centre with five hits across today's doubleheader, while Woodall led all players with five RBIs. Lohr had a monster game 2, going 3-4 at the plate with five stolen bases.

Pierre Kauffmann,
John Kosobud and
TJ Schira combined to allow just five hits while keeping the Thunder off the board in game 2.

Centre will return to action next week with a weekend round robin tournament, beginning with a matchup against Wheaton on Feb. 27.
