DANVILLE, Ky. - The Centre men's basketball team saw its four-game winning streak come to an end as the Colonels dropped a high scoring contest to the Sewanee Tigers by a score of 91-89 on Senior Day.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels started their seniors as part of the Senior Day tradition and
Colby Raymer gave Centre an early lift to help keep up with the hot shooting of Sewanee.
- Sewanee held a small lead for most of the first half before a 10-2 run put Centre on top 26-22, capped off by a three-pointer from
Drake Ingram.
- In the final three minutes of the half, Sewanee caught fire and scored a dozen points in a four-possession span to turn a five-point deficit into a 44-39 lead at the break.
- The Tigers continued the momentum at the start of the second half and extended to an 11-point lead at 54-43, the largest lead by either team at any point in the contest.
- Over the next eight minutes, the Colonels clawed their way back into the game as they tied the score at 61-61 on a jumper from Ingram and then regained the lead on a
Nolan Wahl three-point play.
- The lead changed hands several times over the ensuing five-minute stretch, with the Colonels going up 72-71 another clutch shot from Ingram. Sewanee battled back to take the lead for good and despite a barrage of threes from Ingram, the Tigers made just enough shots from the free throw line to keep Centre at bay.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Ingram set a new career high for the second straight game as he scored 40 points to lead the Colonels. It is the first 40-point game for a Centre player since the 2021-22 season.
- Wahl finished one rebound shy of his sixth double-double of the year with 17 points and nine rebounds.
Kalib Thomas finished with 13 points.
