ATLANTA - Earlier today the Southern Athletic Association released its weekly awards for track & field and it was a clean sweep for Centre as Luke Cole, Jackson Heim, Chloe Hein and Zoey Shahid-Scott all won Athlete of the Week honors for meets held through Mar. 22.

SAA Men's Field Athlete of the Week Luke Cole performed personal bests in all four throws this weekend at the Emory Spring Break Classic in Atlanta. In the shot put, he threw 16.21m (53-2.25) to get the win for the Colonels in the meet. That throw currently ranks him first on the SAA Performance List and third in all of NCAA Division III. In the discus, he finished with a mark of 46.23m (151-8), good for second on the SAA Performance list and 13th nationally. Cole continued his meet with the hammer and threw 47.34m (155-4), which ranks him third on the SAA Performance List and 48th in all of NCAA Division III. He finished his weekend with his fourth personal best mark in the javelin as he finished with a throw of 57.33m (188-1), and that ranks him at the top of the SAA Performance List and 20th among all D3 competitors.

SAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week Jackson Heim put his name into the Centre record book this past weekend at the Emory Spring Break Classic as he posted a pair of personal best races. He set the school record on the men's 400m as he clocked in at 47.16, breaking the record previously held by national champion JP Vaught. This time currently has Heim ranked first on the SAA Performance List and third in all of NCAA Division III. In the same meet he raced in the 100m and posted a new PR of 10.74. which is ranked second among legal times on the SAA Performance List and 24th among D3 runners.

Chloe Hein was named SAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week. At the Emory Spring Break Classic this weekend, Hein raced in the 100m and posted a time of 11.79. This time was 0.01 seconds shy of her personal best time ever in the race, but it is still good enough to put her at the top of both the SAA and NCAA Division III Performance Lists through the first two weeks of the outdoor track season.

Finally, SAA Women's Field Athlete of the Week Zoey Shahid-Scott broke one of the oldest records in the Centre women's track record book this past weekend at Emory. Shahid-Scott threw 13.59m (44-7) in the shot put to break the program record that Kelly Davis had held since 1997. That was good enough to get the win in the event and she currently ranks second on the SAA performance list and fourth in the nation. Shahid-Scott also posted a personal best mark in the discus, finishing with a throw of 39.40m (129-3), good for the top spot on the SAA Performance List and 17th in all of NCAA Division III. She wrapped up her meet by posting a mark of 37-19 (122-0) in the hammer.
