4/24/2026 10:38:00 AM

Danville, KY - Centre Athletics has announced Braden Tabor '21 as the new Director of Sport Performance, effective immediately.

Tabor ascends to the role previously held by Jeremy Carlson '15, who was named Deputy Director of Athletics on April 15, 2026. Tabor will continue to oversee and further develop sport-specific strength and conditioning programs for all Centre student-athletes. He works with Centre's athletic training staff and head coaches to provide the highest quality programming for each student-athlete and sport program.

"I'm incredibly grateful and excited for the opportunity to lead the Sport Performance department," Tabor said. "As an alum and former student-athlete, Centre Athletics holds a special place in my life. This role allows me to connect with every student-athlete on campus and contribute to our shared goal of competing for championships, whether it be at the conference or national level. I'm also deeply appreciative of the guidance and leadership from Jeremy Carlson. We've built a strong relationship over the years - as student-athlete and coach, peers, and colleagues - his support has been instrumental in helping me reach this point."

Tabor most recently served as an Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Centre since July 2024. Tabor started in strength and conditioning as an intern at Centre and served as such in sports performance for his four years as a student-athlete at Centre. He competed as a thrower on the Centre Track & Field team, and after earning his undergraduate degree from Centre in 2021, Tabor earned a Master's Degree in Education from Western Kentucky University. He is also Level 1 certified by United States Weightlifting and a member of the US Powerlifting Association. Tabor holds a NSCA Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.

Jeremy Carlson '15, Deputy Director of Athletics, noted his enthusiasm for Tabor's new role. "I couldn't be more excited for the opportunity in front of Coach Tabor. When I hired Braden two years ago, I knew he had the ability to lead this department to new heights. Over that time, he has consistently led from where he is, and I have full confidence that he will continue to elevate our programs," Carlson said. "Braden is fully aligned with our Sport Performance mission—preparing student-athletes for their athletic endeavors, serving as a catalyst for character development, and providing the tools for lifelong fitness. I'm excited to see him lead and continue making an impact across all 24 varsity sports and more than 650 student-athletes at Centre!"
