SATURDAY RECAP
MOUNT BERRY, Ga. -Â Sitting in third place at the end of the Friday session, the Centre women's track & field team got off to a hot start in the Saturday session and never looked back once they took the lead, winning their fourth straight Southern Athletic Association outdoor title with a score of 203 points.
The Colonels jumped both Trinity and Berry in the standings on Saturday, eventually topping the second place Tigers by 15 points, with Rhodes and Oglethorpe rounding out the top five teams in order.
In the 5k,
Gracie West led the way for the Colonels as she posted a time of 18:19.44 to finish fifth, with
Sophie Bouldin taking sixth place.
The women's discus saw the Colonels post a 1-2-3 finish as
Zoey Shahid-Scott set a new program record with a mark of 140-11 (42.95m) to get the win, followed by
Olivia Dabney in second and
Alyssa Dyer in third.
Lindsey Browning and
Caeley Wilson also cracked the top eight to give the Colonels 27 of a possible 39 points for the event.
In the triple jump, school record holder
Serena McNeilly got the win after jumping an even 39 feet (11.89m), with
Chloe Hein finishing right behind her to add 18 more points to the Centre totals.
McNeilly picked up another win for the Colonels in the high jump as she cleared 5-6.25 (1.68m) to take first place. Hein finished sixth overall to give Centre another 13 total points in the high jump.
Rounding out the field events, Centre placed two on the podium in the shot put as Shahid-Scott finished second with a mark of 43-8.75, followed by
Shelbi Valentine in third and Browning in seventh.
Moving back to the track, Hein continued her busy afternoon as she teamed with
Ainsley Wilson,
Rianne Moss and
Amari Robinson to finish second in the 4x100m with a time of 47.24.
The women's 1500m saw
Adelyn Shupert take seventh place overall after posting a time of 4:46.38, followed by
Emma Musgrave in eighth place. Musgrave later finished seventh in the 800m with a time of 2:22.08.
In the 100m hurdles, Moss led three Colonels in the top six as she posted a runner-up finish with a time of 15.26, with
Alexandria Masden in fourth and McNeilly in sixth. Moss also posted a third place finish in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:05.16.
Back to the sprints,
Ainsley Wilson picked up her second runner-up finish of the day after posting a time of 58.72, with
Gabriella Ostrander taking fifth place. The 100 was next and Hein took home another win with a time of 11.96. Yet another Hein win came in the 200m as she clocked in at 24.32 to pick up her third victory and fifth podium of the championship meet.
Finally, in the 4x400m, Moss and Ostrander teamed with
Alanna Masden and
Ainsley Wilson to finish fourth overall with a time of 4:04.66.
FRIDAY RECAP
MOUNT BERRY. Ga. - The Centre women's track & field team wrapped up competition at the first day of the 2026 SAA Outdoor Championships and with a majority of the scored events still to be held, the Colonels sit in third place with 46 points.
The first event of the day began at 8:30 this morning with the women's 10k and senior
Gracie West posted a podium finish, clocking in at 38:15.25 to take third place, with
Cara Taylor and
Claire Barnett also finishing inside the individual top eight.
In the javelin,
Hadley Priest landed on the podium as well as she made a throw of 113-10 (34.70m) to finish third overall and earn All-SAA Honorable Mention.
The women's hammer saw
Kellaiah Laurent finish in seventh place as she posted a mark of 137-10 (42.02m).
A season full of school record performances added another to the list in the long jump as
Chloe Hein added to her Division III national lead, setting a program record with a winning mark of 20-10.75 (6.37m). Fellow national title winner
Serena McNeilly finished third overall to give the Centre women 16 total points in the long jump.
The final track event of the day that was scored was the 3000m steeplechase and senior
Sophie Bouldin finished second overall with a time of 11:30.20, with
Abbott Renfro taking seventh place.
The rest of the races were preliminary heats for Saturday's finals, but in the 100m qualifying heats, Hein posted a time of 11.63, which puts her at the top of the Division III performance list.
