DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre baseball completed a regular season series sweep of the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels on Sunday afternoon with a 6-0 shutout victory at Gary Wright Field.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The first three Centre hitters in the second inning reached base after a single by
Forrest Day was sandwiched by walks from
Evan Weyler and
Baylor Woodall, loading the bases.
Jonah Porter was hit by a pitch for the first RBI of the day. A sacrifice fly from
Graham Johnson made it 2-0 and then
Ben Prather drove in another with a base hit to complete the crooked number inning with a 3-0 Centre lead.
- Centre pitching continued to get big outs as the game progressed, with
Aidan Carr relieving
Nolan Asher in the sixth. With two outs in the bottom of the sixth, Johnson belted a solo homer to left field to increase the Centre edge to 4-0.
- After Carr got out of a jam in the top of the eighth, the Oglethorpe defense went awry in the bottom of the inning as three consecutive errors led to two more Centre runs crossing the plate.
