Louisville, KY – Centre on the road for the midweek match-up takes the win against Spalding, with a final score of 17-2.
The game opened with Spalding taking a lead within the early minutes, but it didn't take long till Centre responded with a goal by
Gracie Garner off an assist by
Sophia Richardson to tie it.
Colonels followed up with a string of goals from
Audrey Haines,
Olivia Sweasy, and
Gracie Garner, who topped off the offensive momentum with a pair of goals to go up 4-1.
Eagles tried to get some momentum of their own by converting on penalties, but
Mary Haley, with key saves, was able to halt Spalding's offense.
Sophia Richardson adds a goal of her own with a key man-down goal to extend the lead out to 5-1. It stayed even as both teams had a feature of turnovers and missed shots on goal.
Centre carried control over into the second period, as they created early pressure with multiple shots before setting the tone, with three quick goals by Haines and Garner to build a cushion lead.
Spalding showed life late in the period as Taylor Young broke through to attempt a closer deficit for the Eagles. The period closed with multiple turnovers on the Eagles to halt any offensive pressure.
The Colonels opened scoring early with a goal from

Mary Sterling Anderton, setting an early offensive tone.
After a stretch of back-and-forth play and multiple saves from Spalding goalie Whitney White, Centre found the net again as
Elsa Santighian was able to convert on a man-down opportunity.
Audrey Haines closed the period on a man-up opportunity to give the Colonels a 13-2 lead heading into the fourth.

A stream of turnovers hit both sides as they battled to keep momentum on their side. Within two minutes of each other midway through, Garner and
Eva Kalmbach had a pair of goals to extend the lead as far as 16-2.
Spalding made late attempts, battling a run clock, but could not get anything past as
Mary Haley stood strong in goal for the Colonels.
Eva Kalmbach closes the game out with one last goal off an assist from Haines to give Centre a 17-2 win over Spalding.
The Colonels are back at home as they celebrate the Seniors on Senior Day against Berry at 12 pm.
