BEREA, Ky. – Centre women's cross country returned to action as they headed to Berea College to race in the Mike & Mary Kay Johnson Invitational. On a rugged, hilly and hot course, the Colonels earned their first team win of the season.
 
The Colonels finished with a combined team score of 25 points to cruise to victory, finishing 18 points ahead of Asbury and 51 points ahead of Maryville.
 
Individually, the Colonels had eight runners finish in the overall top 15. Emma Musgrave, who was Centre's top runner in the season opener at Franklin, repeated the feat this time around as she picked up her first collegiate win of her career, clearing the 5k course in 19:53.9 to take first place.
 
The next Centre runner to cross the finish line was Claire Barnett, who clocked in at 20:01.1 to finish in second place overall. Pack running was the key for the Colonels, who had three more finishers in the top ten. Mary Darling posted a sixth place finish with a time of 20:26.9, followed immediately by Abi Albright in seventh at 20:31.6. Olivia Chrapliwy finished shortly thereafter, taking ninth place with a time of 20:49.9 to round out Centre's counted times.
 
McKinley Richardson (21:32.4), Abbott Renfro (21:35.0) and Keegan Caudill (21:35.9) also finished in the top 15 for the Colonels, with Caudill's time edging out teammate Addison Smith by a fraction of a second.
