Danville, Ky – Centre Colonels hosted Transylvania Pioneers for the night game of the season, taking the win over the pioneers 6-1.
First quarter opened with Centre taking an early start on a strong offensive pressure with several scoring opportunities and eight penalty corners. Hannah Miler opened the colonels shots on goal but Pioneers goalie Adcock making the save.
Colonels added to the offensive pressure with a stream of penalty corners, including five between 5:42 and 8:39. Late in the period,
Abbie Woolley put two shots on goal, but Adcock stayed strong to keep the score 0-0 heading into the second.
Early in the second quarter, Centre was able to break through turning the first-half pressure into goals.
Rylee Carothers found the back of the net to put Colonels ahead 1-0, just over two minute later,
Hannah Miller doubled the lead adding a goal of her own.
Strong offensive front continued as Centre kept the attack on Pioneer goalie, with Carothers adding to her goal total with a late period goal getting through.
Ashley Hamilton added another goal to send the Colonels into halftime with a 4-0 advantage.
Out of the half, Centre continued their offensive dominance with Abbie Woollley opening the second half scoring to push the lead 5-0 over the pioneers. Not even five minutes later
Hannah Miller found the back of the net off an assist from Woolley, to score her second goal of the game.
Transylvania defense continued to be tested as Vonderheide had a shot saved, while Carothers earned a penalty corner and
Taylor Fuqua had a shot blocked.
Fourth period stayed consisted, Centre keeping the 6-0 lead for majority of the quarter, jen taylor recording any early shot that was saved by Pioneer goalie.
Transylvania managed to break through in the closing minute, after earning a penalty corner, Lucy Cohen was able to put the pioneers on the board 12 seconds later.
The Colonels take a 6-1 win over Transylvania, Centre will travel to play Denison on September 26
th at 11 am.
