SHELBYVILLE, Ind. - On a scorching Saturday, the Centre men's cross country team headed to Franklin to race in the Grizzly Invitational against some of the top teams in the region. The Colonels finished fourth overall, third among collegiate teams.

The Centre men accumulated 136 points to finish in fourth, 22 points ahead of fifth place Rhodes and 54 points back of third place DePauw. Rose-Hulman picked up the win with 34 points.

Individually, the Colonels were one of four teams to land all of their scoring runners inside the overall top 40. Sophomore Houston Brooks had the best time for the Colonels and one of the best times in the 5k race as he crossed the finish line in 15:54.3 to take fourth place overall.

The sophomore class continued to shine for the Colonels as the next two Centre men to finish were second-year runners. Grayson Miller clocked in at 16:38.4 to finish 27th overall, followed closely by Quinn Gulden at 16:39.7 to take 30th place.

Juniors Liam Black (36th place) and Max Germann (39th place) finished off Centre's scoring efforts for the day with respective times of 16:47.7 and 16:51.7. Junior Henry Downs also cracked the individual top 50 as he posted a time of 17:05.3.

The Colonels will have the next week off from competition and will resume their schedule on Sept. 19 as they race in the Berea Invitational.
