Centre men fall to Berry in SAA road tilt

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - A shorthanded Centre men's basketball roster stayed in Georgia after Thursday's overtime victory over Oglethorpe as they faced the Berry Vikings. After a close first half, Berry caught fire from three-point range in the second half to win 91-68.

GAME HIGHLIGHTS

- Centre played well in the opening minutes as Landen Hamilton scored six straight Centre points, bookended by three-pointers from Nolan Wahl and Clay Sizemore to give the Colonels an early 12-8 lead.
- The Vikings controlled most of the rest of the first half as they raced to the lead, going ahead by as many as 13 points at 38-25 at the final media timeout of the half. From there, the Colonels went on a 9-0 run. Wahl and Jaxson Banks both made threes during the stretch and then Banks got a steal and score to cap off the run and cut the deficit to 38-34 at the break.
- The early minutes of the second half saw multiple turnovers by both teams with little scoring. Eventually Berry struck the first blow as they used a 14-4 run to back up by double digits.
- The rest of the half belonged to the Vikings as they shot 71 percent from three-point range, connecting from long distance ten times after the break.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

- Banks led all players with 23 points, his second consecutive game high on the road trip. Hamilton and Drake Ingram each added 14 points, with Ingram's total representing a career high for the freshman.
- Centre held a 38-35 advantage on the glass with two players with double digit boards - ten for Wahl and a career high 11 for Johnny Djema.
- The Colonels shot a fraction under 50 percent from three-point range. Ingram connected on four from long distance while Banks and Wahl each made all three of their attempts.

The Colonels will play their next four games at home, beginning with a matchup against Hendrix on Jan. 17.
