DANVILLE, Ky. – The Centre men's basketball team wrapped up a four-game Southern Athletic Association home stand as they hosted the Millsaps Majors. The Colonels won 82-69 to improve to 12-6 on the year and 4-2 in conference play.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The Colonels were cold at the start of the game as it took them three minutes to crack the scoreboard.
Landen Hamilton broke the ice on a backdoor layup and keyed a run of 12 straight points as the sophomore point guard scored or assisted on ten of them to give Centre a 12-4 advantage.
- Both teams traded baskets over the next five minutes before Centre went up by double digits for the first time following consecutive threes by Hamilton and
Hunter Coleman.
- Millsaps chipped away at the lead and cut it to a single possession at 32-29 with just under four minutes left, but
Ryan Shene buried threes on the next two Centre possessions to cap off his first half scoring binge with 17 points. The Colonels went into the locker room up 43-34 at the half.
- Centre scored the first five points of the second half on a three from Shene and a driving layup by
Nolan Wahl. The Majors made a run after the first media timeout of the half, cutting the deficit to 54-47, but that was as close as they got the rest of the way. Wahl scored the next five Centre points and the Colonels went back up by double figures.
- Shene hit his seventh and final three of the game to give the Colonels their largest lead of 17 points and Millsaps could get no closer than 11 points over the final seven minutes of the contest.
