DANVILLE, Ky. – Centre volleyball capped off a weekend home stand with a return contest against the Rhodes Lynx inside Alumni Gym. Every set was close from beginning to end, with the final two sets requiring extra points, but the home team won all three as Centre improved to 12-9 with the win.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Centre held the lead for most of the opening set, but never by more than five points, with that advantage coming on an ace by
Olivia Chojnacki to cap off a 5-1 run to make it 22-17. From there, the Colonels held on for a 25-22 win as
Abby Swartz delivered the clinching kill.
- In the second set, the Colonels got off to a great start and built a steady lead before Rhodes rallied with six straight points to take the lead at 23-22.
Mack Turner had a tandem block and a kill to give the lead back to Centre for a set point, but the Lynx scored the next two to force a set point of their own. Now trailing 25-24, Centre bounced back with three straight points to win it by a score of 27-25.
- The Colonels had to play from behind for a majority of the third set as Rhodes fought to extend the match. Centre finally broke through with a 4-0 run that included three kills from
Syd Bietz, but Rhodes wouldn't go away as the Lynx fought off three straight match points. In the end, the Colonels came through with the final two points to win another one in extras, 28-26.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Bietz led all players with 15 kills as the only player to finish in double digits.
- Turner finished with eight kills without an error for a .571 hitting percentage.

The Colonels will return to action on Oct. 24 with a road matchup against Sewanee. Centre took the first matchup in four sets on Oct. 4 in Danville.
