SPRINGFIELD, Ohio - The Centre women's golf team finished off the fall portion of the schedule with the Jeff Roope Invitational at Wittenberg and on the final day of play, the Colonels showed the biggest improvement of any team in the field as they finished third.
The Colonels were 18 shots better on Tuesday than they were on Monday as they posted a combined team score of 329 to finish four shots back of Otterbein.
Individually, the Colonels had a handful of finishers in the overall top ten. The low scorer of the day and the tournament for Centre was first-year
Nithya Nunna, who improved by seven shots to finish with a round of 80 thanks to a pair of birdies on the par 4 1st and par 5 12th holes. Nunna wound up with a two-day score of 167 to finish seventh overall.
Senior
Janie Morgan finished two shots back of Nunna in eighth place with a tournament score of 169 after firing a round of 81 on Tuesday. Morgan also improved by seven shots from Monday to Tuesday.
Rookies
Ceci Coccia and
Yelena Williams tied for ninth place with scores of 170 for the tournament. Coccia shot 87 today and had the lone eagle for the Colonels in the tournament as she recorded a 3 on the 12th hole. Williams had the biggest improvement on the team across two rounds as she posted a score of 81 on Tuesday.
Grace Vernon rounded out Centre's tournament scores with a 36-hole total of 181 after shooting 90 today.
