DANVILLE, Ky. - Centre volleyball picked up its fourth consecutive win as the Colonels improved to 16-10 on the year, capping off their conference record at 7-7 with a victory against the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels on Senior Day.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- The opening set belonged to the Colonels from the jump as Centre used an early 6-0 run to grab a lead that they kept. The Colonels scored the final four points of the set to win 25-16 as
Mack Turner and
Madi Winfield combined on a tandem block to seal the victory.
- The Colonels had to play from behind for most of the second set as Oglethorpe looked to even the match. A pair of kills by Turner fought off set points for the Colonels, who eventually took the advantage in extra points and won 29-27.
- Oglethorpe was able to extend the match in the third set as they grabbed the early lead and held onto it, winning by a score of 25-16.
- The fourth set was another close one with Oglethorpe holding the slight advantage for the most part. The Petrels led 19-18 before Centre scored seven of the final eight points to win 25-20. Four of the points in that rally came from aces, three from Winfield and the clincher from
Kendra Christopher.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Bietz led all players in kills as she finished with 18 for the second game in a row. She also paced the Colonels with 15 digs.
- The Colonels finished with 11 aces compared to eight for Oglethorpe. Winfield led the way with four, giving her nine for the weekend.
